I was looking for better quality. I have been through several HPs in the past few years. Reviews say that Dell is much better, however, I do not like the "mouse pad". It is very difficult to get used to. It is not "divided" between right click/left click and scroll. You have to "feel" around for the area that is the one you want. In short, I have had it about three weeks and it is still driving me crazy! I play several Microsoft word games, and this "mouse pad" makes it very difficult. I like being able to feel for the divisions, so I know where my thumb is and I don't have to look down to make sure. This one has to be monitored, you can't just feel for the right spot without looking. Also, for what seems to be absolutely "no reason", it moves to the next page or item. I am sure that I have my thumb in the wrong place, but I am not pressing it down. Then other times, I have to press and press for it to click on something. I hope I can gt used to this eventually!

Bought for son to take to college in May of 2017. He did not start to use until August. Mostly for homework. He called last night (11/6/17) stating that while running on battery his laptop went blank and started to SMOKE - in the library. He could not use it would not turn back on. Since we bought a extended warranty via Walmart and I call Walmart and they say since it is under a year that I have to call DELL. What a nightmare. "Tech support lady" was either not listening to me cause she kept asking me the SAME questions over and over and over. Finally had to get my son on the phone and do "troubleshooting"... finally he had to go due to homework. And she wanted to close the request cause 'my son did not have time to "troubleshoot" ...Trouble shoot a laptop that was smoking and would not turn on and no lights.... Finally I asked for a supervisor and had to wait more time finally the "tech support lady" came back and said that to return the laptop to be fixed. Was on the phone for 2 hours....

The first one of these I got was really slow...slower than the 12 year old laptop I was replacing. Got on with Dell who confirmed it was no good. Dell support was great to work with. Got a new one and I love it! I signed up for the 2year warranty from Walmart and the free support that came with it is fantastic. I've called on four occasions to help with set up and other questions, and every time the representative was patient and fantastic. They use Americans for support, so they are very easy to understand. My only reason for giving four instead of five stars is that the plastic case seems fragile and scratches very very easily. Highly recommend the Walmart warranty no matter what computer you get. I would buy my next laptop here just for that.

Bought for 12yr old... really nice and big screen, yet light weight. Overall many upper end build features and looks great. Only reason not 5 stars is my son complains about graphics not loading properly as he plays Fortnite.... not sure if its teh graphics card or wifi speed... but something to consider
