Wanted a cordless vacuum for awhile and did a lot of online research. When I saw this one on sale on Walmart.com, I had to pounce. I have had it for about two weeks and really like it. It comes with ample accessories so you don't really need to buy extras. It is very versatile - use as a small handheld or upright vac. I'm a kamikaze vacuumer - I run over everything in the way - so I was consistently running over the cord on my Oreck which you can tell by the number of black electrical tape fixes. The v6 Animal fits the bill. As many reviews say, it is more suitedt for a small apartment or house. I have a two-story, 2200 sq ft house. But, I just break up my vacuuming into two stints or do some of it with the v6 Animal and then follow up with my corded one. The battery does only last 20 minutes or so and the dust catcher is rather small. But, the cordless convenience and performance far outweighs any shortcomings in my book! Give it a try.....

I received my Dyson DC59 Motörhead vacuum for my birthday and I absolutely love it! It's lightweight and I love it being cordless! It's very easy to change the different heads depending what you need it for. Also, it's easy to dump out the dirt (I do have to use my hand to pull he clump out at times). You can't clean the entire house at once since the charge lasts for about 20 minutes so I end up cleaning a little each day. I'm glad I wrote down the little tips from Dyson since it reminded me that to prolong the batter life, you should charge it after it has cooled down (so don't plug it in right away after using). This little vac picks up a lot of dirt amazingly well. But, that's what I expect from my 2nd Dyson vacuum! I also have the purple Animal Dyson which I had for over 10 years and still working great. However, I haven't used it since I got my new DC59 since it's smaller and lighter. The only recommendation I can think of for future models is to have a longer battery life.

I currently own a DC41 corded vac & the DC35 Multi-Floor cordless vac which I use on the hardwood floors and carpet areas of my home. In the past I always used the DC41 on the carpets as the cordless model simply lacked the power to do a good job. When my daughter visit with her dog the family room carpet gets covered in hair which can be difficult to remove. Today after receiving & charging the new DC59 Motorhead I headed for the carpet covered in dog hair and was totally amazed at the job this cordless unit did in removing the dog hair. I got out my DC35 cordless unit and ran it on the carpet and it was like night and day difference hardly touching the dog hair. I continued vacuuming the carpet with the new DC59 Motorhead finishing the job in no time and really like the light weight of the unit compared my corded DC41 which is also an excellent vac. I am very impressed with the power of the new DC59 motor head and no longer feel that the cordless unit cannot handle dog hair on the carpet.

My husband did the unthinkable and purchased a vacuum for me for Christmas... but that's okay, because I'm the kind of wife who wanted a vacuum for Christmas! We have a regular sized vacuum that we love for the floors, but its a hassle to pull that out for cleanup of small messes. I love that this vac is hanging on the wall at the ready whenever I need it. It's multiple attachments are easy to switch out and so versatile. I clean up the baby's highchair, under the counter, and even get the crumbs off of the dinner table. It's so light weight and easy to manipulate, I've started using it on the stairs too! In the last year since our son was born I maybe pulled out the big vacuum 10 times (bad housekeeper, I know). Since Christmas I have vacuumed almost every day... and I've even kind of enjoyed it! I gave hubby a big kiss and told him we would have a 110% chance of living in a cleaner house! Totally worth every penny (whatever he spent)!

Sometimes smaller is better! This light weight vacuum cleaner does a great job on our carpet and floors. We're an "empty-nest working couple" with a large dog. Living in Florida, the dog tracks in a lot of sand from the back yard. I was having trouble keeping up since our previous vacuum was large, heavy and bulky - a chore in itself to haul it out of the laundry room and maneuver it over the various door thresholds between laundry, lanai and the main part of the house. The DC59 transitions from space to space easily and the whole house is done in 15-20 minutes, just as the battery runs out. It recharges quickly, the interchangeable accessories are easy to use. I use this vacuum every other day. The weighted motorhead even holds down some of the area rugs, making them easier to vacuum. The only drawback for me is the size of the canister- it fills really fast due to the dog hair so it has to be emptied 3 times in 20 minutes but it is worth it! Thanks, Dyson - love this product!
